Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing a new dental home comes with plenty of questions, especially when you’re searching for a practice that treats your whole family with the same level of care as they would their own. From understanding what a first visit involves to knowing how payment works, having clear answers upfront makes it easier to feel confident before you ever sit down in the chair.

At Radiant Smiles Dentistry, we believe informed patients make better partners in their own care. Below, we have compiled answers to the questions we hear most often from new and returning patients, covering everything from scheduling and insurance to what makes our boutique approach to family dentistry different.

What Should I Expect At My First Visit?

Every new patient at Radiant Smiles Dentistry begins with a complimentary wellness scan, giving Dr. Patel and her team a clear baseline of your current oral health. This scan pairs with a full exam, digital X-rays, and a conversation about your goals so we can build a plan that actually fits your life rather than a generic checklist.

We also want your first visit to feel comfortable, not clinical. Our comfort menu lets you choose small touches like a warm blanket or dark glasses, and every treatment room has a ceiling-mounted TV with headphones so you can relax while we work. If dental visits tend to make you anxious, know that you are far from alone. According to the CDC, nearly one in five adults aged 20 to 64 has at least one permanent tooth with untreated decay, a statistic that often reflects delayed or avoided care rather than a lack of concern for oral health.

Radiant Smiles Dentistry accepts most major PPO insurance plans, and our team handles verification before your appointment so there are no surprises about coverage. Because every plan is different, we recommend reviewing our insurance page or giving us a call so we can confirm your specific benefits ahead of time.

We are not currently in-network with HMO plans or Medicaid, and we want to be upfront about that so you can plan accordingly. If you are unsure whether your plan applies, our front desk team is happy to check for you before you book.

We never want the cost of dental care to stand between you and the care you need. For patients without insurance, we offer financing through Sunbit, which allows you to spread the cost of treatment into manageable installments based on what works for your budget. You can find complete details, including how to apply, on our financing page.

We are also happy to walk through your options in person before any treatment begins, so you always know what to expect financially. Our goal is to make quality dental care accessible, not add another source of stress to your visit.

Yes, a small surcharge applies to credit card payments. This fee reflects our actual cost of accepting credit cards and will always be disclosed to you clearly before your payment is processed. No surcharge applies if you pay by cash or check.

We would rather be upfront about this now than have it catch you off guard at checkout. If you have questions about how this works or want to explore other payment methods, our team can walk you through everything during your visit.

We understand that life happens, and plans change. We simply ask for at least 2 business days’ notice (48 hours) if you need to cancel or reschedule, so we can offer that appointment time to another patient who may be waiting for care.

Appointments canceled with less than two business days’ notice, or missed without any notice at all, may be considered a missed appointment and are subject to a late cancellation fee. This policy helps us keep our schedule running smoothly for everyone in our boutique, four-operatory practice, where every appointment slot matters.

Radiant Smiles Dentistry is built around full-scope family dentistry, which means we welcome patients across every age group under one roof. From routine cleanings and exams to more involved restorative or cosmetic care, our goal is to be the one dental home your whole family can rely on.

Dr. Patel brings nearly 10 years of experience to every appointment, with training spanning general, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry, along with certifications in Invisalign and SureSmile clear aligners. That range means most family members, regardless of age or dental need, can be seen at the same practice.

For patients who feel nervous about dental work, we offer nitrous oxide sedation to help you stay relaxed and comfortable throughout treatment. This is available for a range of procedures, and our team will talk you through whether it is a good fit for your visit.

Beyond sedation, our comfort menu and calming treatment room setup are designed to make every appointment feel less clinical. We would rather you leave feeling at ease than simply checking a box, which is part of why we built this practice the way we did.
