Walking into a new dental office for the first time can bring up a lot of questions. What will they look at? How long will it take? Will it feel like every other dental visit? Those are fair questions to ask, and knowing what lies ahead makes all the difference. For many people, uncertainty about what happens at a first appointment is exactly what holds them back from scheduling one.

At Radiant Smiles Dentistry, we understand that. Dr. Sonam Patel founded this practice with one clear intention: to make every patient feel heard, comfortable, and genuinely cared for from the very first interaction. Whether you are coming in for a routine cleaning or simply getting established with a new provider, you will find that a first visit here is a little different from what you might expect.

It Starts Before You Even Sit Down

The experience begins the moment you call to schedule your appointment. Our team is equipped to walk you through insurance coverage, answer your questions, and get you set up as smoothly as possible. New patient paperwork can be completed ahead of time, so when you arrive, you are stepping into an appointment, not an administrative process.

When you are brought back to your suite, you will be greeted by a team member who introduces themselves and gets to know you first. Because we believe general dentistry should feel personal, not rushed, that first conversation matters. Your team member will ask what brought you in today, what your expectations are, and how they can make sure we exceed them.

Your Comfort Menu and Suite Experience

From the moment you settle in, your comfort is a priority. Every patient at Radiant Smiles Dentistry is offered a comfort menu at the start of their visit, so you can choose what makes your appointment more comfortable.

What the Comfort Menu Includes

Here is a look at what you can choose from to personalize your experience:

  • Heated blankets: stay warm and relaxed throughout your visit
  • Eye masks: block out distractions and settle in before your exam
  • Ceiling-mounted TV with headphones: take your mind off the appointment entirely

These options are not an afterthought. They are part of how our practice was designed from the ground up, built around the idea that patients deserve to feel at ease before a single tooth is examined. Nitrous oxide sedation is also available for those who experience anxiety during dental procedures. If that applies to you, just let us know when you schedule.

Your Wellness Scan and What We Review

Every new patient receives a complimentary wellness scan, and it is one of the most meaningful parts of the first visit. This diagnostic tool gives you and Dr. Patel a detailed, visual look at your oral health from day one, so you are not just hearing about your mouth; you are seeing it. According to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, nearly 1 in 5 U.S. adults experiences moderate to high dental fear and anxiety that prevents them from seeking oral health care, which makes a welcoming, informative first visit all the more important.

At Radiant Smiles Dentistry, our dental technology allows us to track changes over time and show you, in a meaningful way, how your oral health is progressing from one visit to the next. That first scan becomes your baseline record, and you will also receive an oral health risk assessment at the end of your visit, a clear picture of where you are starting and what your long-term goals look like. From there, your appointment will include thorough charting, X-rays as appropriate, and a dental cleaning and exam designed to gather everything Dr. Patel needs to have an honest conversation with you about your oral health.

What Dr. Patel Will Cover

Dr. Patel does not walk in and start talking about procedures. She starts by talking to you, and that approach shapes everything that follows.

The Conversation That Drives Treatment

With nearly 10 years of experience and a genuine commitment to patient education, Dr. Patel wants to understand where you are coming from before making any recommendations. Her approach ties oral health directly to whole-body wellness, and she will walk you through what she finds, explain the why behind any recommended treatment, and make sure you feel empowered to make decisions that are right for you. Patients here are always partners in their care, not passengers.

No Rush, No Numbers Game

We are a small, privately owned practice built to operate differently from high-volume dental chains. Your appointment is not double-booked, and your questions are never cut short. Dr. Patel founded Radiant Smiles Dentistry specifically so that every patient gets the time and attention their health deserves.
